We the People of India, having solemnly resolve to constitute India into a Soverign, Democratic Republic and to Secure to All its Citizen.Justice - Social, Economic and Political
Liberty - of thoughts, expression, belief, faith and worship;
Equality - of status and of opportunity; and to promote among them all.
Faternity - assuring the dignity of the individual and unity of the Nation;
In our Constituent Assembly this twenty sixth day of November 1949 do hereby adopt enact and give to ourselves this constitution.

Faternity - assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;

What Changed and Why?
The 42nd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1976 added three important words to the Preamble:- Socialist – to highlight social and economic equality
- Secular – to show equal respect for all religions
- Integrity – to emphasize the unity and strength of the nation
